All year long
MEETINGS WITH AUTHORS
All year long, our staff works with teachers to carry out specific projects related to crime fiction or to organise meetings with authors in schools. In 2012 pupils and students from involved schools have had the opportunity to discuss with authors Sylvie Deshors, Romain Slocombe and Craig Johnson.
In connection with Quais du polar festival, writing contests are organised for primary and secondary schools. For more information, see the “Short story contest” heading.
THE GREAT ‘SUSPENSE DICTATION’: READING, WRITING and DISCUSSING CRIME FICTION
This year, Quais du Polar will actively support the ANLCI (French national agency against illiteracy) and will be mobilised to improve access to reading for all through the organisation of a great ‘suspense dictation’ aimed at primary and secondary schools on Friday, March 31 2017. Schools from ZEP (Priority Education Zones) will be the main target of this action.
The text will be inspired from Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod’s works and read by the author, who will meet the candidates after the dictation.
The participating schools will receive special attention from our staff and will have the opportunity to meet the professionals of the book industry (publishers and booksellers) in the book fair area of the festival.
EDUCATION TO CRIME FICTION
(for school librarians and secondary school teachers)
Each year in March Quais du Polar organises a one-day training session for teachers and librarians from the Rhône-Alpes region. In connection with the Rectorat (regional board of education), Lyon’s municipal library network and the DRAC (regional board of cultural affairs), this training session will partly focus on crime fiction for youth and on providing teachers and librarians with tools and suggestions to tackle this specific genre with their pupils.
In 2017 this training session will be held on March 30th 2017 at Enssib.
