John Burdett

About

John Burdett is a former British lawyer and a true connoisseur of Asia. After working and living in Hong Kong he settled in Bangkok a few years ago and spends several months of the year in the South-West of France. Among other books, he wrote a series of five crime fiction novels that have been published by the Presses de la Cité since 2004 (Bangkok 8, Bangkok Tattoo, Bangkok Haunts, The Godfather of Kathmandu and Vulture Peak (to be released in France in March 2013) centred on the Thai Buddhist detective Sonchaï Jitpleecheep, a police inspector in the red-light district of Bangkok, the 8th district.

“John Burdett was born and raised in Great Britain where he studied law. He worked as a lawyer in Hong Kong for 12 years until he decided to retire and pursue a career as a novelist. He has published seven books, including the Bangkok series. He is currently writing the 6th opus which takes place in Africa and Bangkok.”
