About

Autobiography for Quais du polar

I became a noir writer when I realized that noir fiction didn’t have to be about shooting people.  In fact noir fiction could be about moral crisis, the inner lives of human beings.  In other words, noir fiction could be as much about human life as any other kind of writing.  Noir fiction did not need policemen or private detectives, gangsters or serial killers.  Noir fiction could be about doctors, lawyers, architects, photographers, even college professors, and still be suspenseful.  Such has been my take on crime fiction and I am truly grateful that French readers have embraced it with such generosity.
