About her
Elsa Marpeau grew up in Nantes, and at 18 moved to Paris after replying to a matrimonial advert in the Nouvel Observateur. There she occupied herself by writing a thesis on imaginary worlds in 17th century theatre, and taught performing arts (cinema and theatre) for 5 years in Nanterre. She won the Carrefour Savoirs prize for first novel in 2003 with her book Recherche au sang. She writes both screenplays and novels in which black is the prominent colour. Her latest novel Black blocs was published in February 2012 by Serie Noire. Elsa Marpeau is currently living in Singapore.
