Ira Ishida was born in 1960. After studying economics at Seikei University, he worked in advertising and then turned to writing. In 1997, the first volume of Ikebukuro West Gate Park was awarded the Orû Yomimono Award for crime fiction. Since then, the author has published several other novels, including the two sequels in the Ikebukuro West Gate Park series, and has been the recipient of many other literary awards.
